Josephine M. Richardson, 82, was born April 13, 1932 in Concord (Cabarrus County), NC to Gus Dunlap and Christine Witherspoon Dunlap. As the only surviving triplet, and due to the death of her Mother at childbirth, Josephine was brought to Winston-Salem, NC as an infant and raised by her Aunt, Ms. Alberta Witherspoon Mack.
Ms. Richardson attended Atkins High School, and was a long time member of Macedonia TVPH Church Winston-Salem, NC. She also served on the Mother's Board and was a member of the Willing Workers Club at the Church.
Ms. Josephine enjoyed having fun, laughing, traveling and bowling. She was a member of several bowling leagues, many times traveling to and participating in bowling tournaments. Ms. Richardson loved clothes and was a sharp dresser. She was a hard, diligent worker and worked at Hatteras Yacht, Piedmont Leaf Tobacco, and retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1994. She also worked part-time in the school system and at Wal-Mart after retiring.
She was part of the Community Flower and Bereavement Club, did volunteer work for the local Democratic Party, and worked with the City of Winston-Salem Neighborhood personnel to keep her neighborhood clean and drug free. She had a genuine love for people and helping people. Ms. Josephine was trustworthy and genuine. In Her, you had a true friend.
Ms. Richardson was preceded in death by her father and mother, husband, numerous sisters, brothers and her son Nelson Gregory Richardson.
Josephine Richardson was called home November 2, 2014 at Novant Hospital, Winston-Salem, NC. She is survived by her son George A. Richardson (Andrena), Brenda R, Noble (Robert), Curtis L, Richardson (Earline), Evelyn L. Richardson, Mahlon A, Thompson (Aldetra), her brother Johnny Dunlap (Vivian), Detroit, Michigan; 11 Grandchildren, Parthenia Moore, Marlon Noble, Camille Noble, Christopher L. Noble, Sean Richardson, Angela Richardson, Christina Richardson Ferguson, Sharde' Bridges, Cierra Pearson, Jayia Pearson, India Pearson; 10 Great Grandchildren and two Great, Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous family members in Charlotte, NC.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 1pm with Minister Bradshaw officiating at Macedonia TVPH Church 500 Kinard Dr. The family will receive friends from 12pm to 1pm Saturday. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory cemetery. Johnson-Howard-Robinson Home of Memory is in charge of all services and arrangements.
