JAMES HICKS KNOWN TO ALL AS "HICKS",BRON IN ROCK HILL, SC TO GENEVA HICKS AND LEROY GASKINS. HE CAME TO WINSTON-SALEM, NC AT A VERY EARLY AGE. HE DEPARTED THIS EARTHLY LIFE FRIDAY, FEB 20TH AT HIS RESIDENCE. HE ATTENDED THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN WINSTON-SALEM AND WAS A GRADUATE OF PAISLEY HIGH SCHOOL, CLASS OF 1962. HE WAS ALSO A STAR FOOTBALL PLAYER WHILE ATTENDING PAISLEY. HE ATTENDED FEDERAL CITY COLLEGE IN WASHINGTON, HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A CEMENT FINISHER ALSO WORKED FOR CAPITAL STEEL CO. AND C.P TELEPHONE CO. BOTH IN DC.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, LEROY GASKINS AND GENEVA HICKS DAVIS; STEPFATHER, WILLIE J. DAVIS AND BROTHER ALFONDZOE "ZOE" HICKS.

THOSE FAMILY MEMBERS WHO SURVIVE AND WILL FOREVER CHERISH FOND MEMORIES OF A LOVING AND DEVOTED FAMILY MAN, HIS DEDICATED AND COMMITTED SISTER, WILLA FAYE DAVIS OF TOBACCOVILLE, NC; BROTHER, EDWARD L. DAVIS "BOO" OF THE CITY; THREE DAUGHTERS; SHAY CHERENE ROBINSON AND MAKEISSAH ROBINSON BOTH OF THE CITY AND TONYA EVANS OF HIGH POINT, NC; THREE SONS BOBBY (JACKIE) CLARK, JACQUES "JOCK" BITTING BOTH OF THE CITY, WILLIAM "BAM" (TANYA) BITTING OF CHARLOTTE, NC; 12 GRANDCHILDREN, 3 GREAT GRANDS,A VERY SPECIAL NIECE AND NEPHEW, CARLOS AND DIONE DAVIS, TWO SPECIAL NEPHEWS, RODERICK DAVIS AND DESHAWN ANDERSSON; A SPECIAL SISTER-IN- LAW, DORIS MCQUEEN; DEAR COUSIN, THE CALDWELL AND JACKSON FAMILIES; AND A HOST OF NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUISN, OTHER RELATIVES AND MANY, MANY FRIENDS.

FAMILY HOUR IS THURDAY FEB 26TH FROM 12:00 TORAL AT 1:00, FUNERAL AT 1PM, NEW LIGHT BAPTIST CHURCH, 1535 E. 15TH STREET, REV. SAMUEL HICKERSON, PASTOR. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW, PIEDMONT MEMORIAL GARDENS. THE FAMILY WILL BE LEAVEING FROM HIS RESIDENCE 100 AZALEA TERRACE, APT 316. JOHNSON'S- HOWARD ROBINSON HOME OF MEMORY IS IN CHARGE OF SERVICES AND ARRANGEMENT.
