Dorothy Glymph Hughes

Ms. Dorothy Glymph Hughes of 1509 Pittsburg Court departed this life on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 after a period of illness. She was a graduate of Atkins High School Class of 1952. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hampton Institute (now Hampton University) and a Masters in Psychiatric Nursing from Boston University. She was a retired employee of Winston-Salem State University. Ms. Hughes was gold star member of New Bethel Baptist Church, joining under the pastorate of Rev. J. C. Gilmore where she was a former member of the Cathedral Choir, Mass Choir, Missionary Department and Tuesday Bible Study Class. Left to cherish her memories are her children Jay Cedric (Pamela) Farabee and Chris Farabee Sr.; one daughter, Darlis Farabee of the city; one brother Richard (Arlene) Glymph; one sister in law Mittie (Stuart) Cooke; four grandchildren; Chris Farabee Jr., Camris (Derrick) Farabee-Davis, Brianna and Jay Cedric Farabee, Jr.; three great-grandchildren; Jenea, Cameren, and Derrick; extended family; Walter (Carolyn) Farabee, Camille (Johnny) Lancaster, David Mason, Cheryl Miller and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 1:00 pm at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1016 N Trade Street with Dr. Kendall D. Jones, Sr. officiating. Dr. Timothy Williams will deliver the eulogy. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. Johnson's-Howard-Robinson Home of Memory is in charge of all services and arrangements
